Why we're so lonely right now

Narrowly centering our relationships only on humans isolates us from the rest of the web of life.

Loneliness is an epidemic in the modern day. But we are NEVER ALONE. Our ancestors knew this. They created relationships with the wider world of life around them like the land, the plants, the trees, and the mountains where they lived.

Tending to non-human relationships can birth:

🌿A deeper sense of belonging to the place we live.
🌿Feeling deeply met and seen.
🌿Inspiration and creativity.
🌿Remembering our place and purpose in the world.
🌿And access a greater/wider perspective.

Some of my most cherished intimate moments in life are not with humans. Like...

🕷️The spider that wanted to play during a lunch break on retreat.
🏞️ The land and sky that shed tears of longing with me when I walked barefoot.
🌳 The tree that generously gifted me one of her branches after my morning offering.

This week on the podcast I'm exploring the profound kinship, healing, and belonging we can find in non-humans relationships. I explore:

  • Why so many of us feel alone right now when we're never truly alone.

  • What our ancestors knew about the wider web of relationships.

  • What becomes possible when we develop intentional relationships with non-humans.

  • Why it's powerful to develop relationships with non-humans.

  • How to start developing relationships with non-humans.

Tell me in the comments below, do you have non-human relationships?
