Can you hear intuition under stress?

A clear connection with our intuition depends on us being grounded and feel safe. Otherwise, we run the risk of our wounding, our fears, our anxieties, our stresses coloring the lenses of our inner guidance.

It’s 2021 and the pandemic is still unfolding, here in the United States political tensions and potential for conflict are at an all time high, and many of us are struggling with our sense of resilience.  If you’re like me, you want 2021 to be a new page in your book of life that looks very different, more uplifting than 2020.  And well, 2021 has been intense.

My 2021 start?  Strange is maybe the best word.  Highs and lows.  More roller coasters.  I learned a dear person in my life is really struggling with debilitating anxiety.  Showing support to people we love in a pandemic is possible and...different.  I live in DC where the capital was stormed and it feels like a violation.

I also had some bright spots.  I’ve found some new nature trails and had good enough weather to go on trails with friends for socially distanced catch ups.  I received really great news about my health.  My health seems to be strong and my Lyme symptoms have been minimal.

I came into the new year cautiously, gingerly, and tenderly.
2020 has trained me not to move too fast and not to reach too far.

Especially since some of the conditions like the pandemic haven’t left us.  And most of all because I’ve realized:

Our nerves are frayed even if we think they are not.

Our bodies are tired even if we think they are not.

Our emotional load is immense even if we're doing great inner work.

I want to invite you to assume that your system needs extra support right now.

I know mine does.  Give yourself permission to give your body, mind, and spirit more attention that it deserves.  This doesn’t mean packing more on your to do list.  Or pushing more goals/intentions.  It simply means slowing down in moments to pay attention to what you need right now.

One of my favorite practices to do with my sensitive clients is to create a safety list (I shared the how-to in my newsletter this week. If you didn’t get it, make sure to join and send me an e-mail. I’ll send you this potent practice). It’s a list of resources you have to support your nervous system to feel more safe.  This list can be informed by your senses by considering:

what sights, smells, sounds, tastes, and sense of touch fosters a sense of safety, comfort, grounding, and ease in my body that are with you RIGHT NOW?

The beauty in this list is that we recognize that we have a wellspring of sources of grounding or safety ALL around us at any given moment.  And more grounding and safety is precisely what I think sensitives need the most for 2021.

This week on the podcast I’m exploring why 2021 is not asking us to push hard and jump fast out of the gate and what it has to do with our intuition.

I explore:

  • What makes 2021 different from all other years.

  • The one thing all sensitives need in 2021.

  • What happens when we try to hear our intuition under stress.

  • A simple practice to foster a sense of grounding and safety.

  • And an alternative to new years resolutions.

Now pretend you're across the table drinking tea with me and let me know, how’s your 2021 so far?  Tell me in the comments below.

much love,
Marci
