How a break from social media helped me hear my truth

Remembering is as important as learning.

You know the kind of bone deep remembering. When you recognize a personal truth for the second, tenth, even hundredth time?  That kind of remembering.

The most important remembering we can do is to remember our truth.  To remember our truth we first need to be able to hear it.

Have you ever been in a room that feels so loud you can’t think?  That’s what social media felt like to me in June.

My heart was feeling weary. I celebrated so many important truths finally named. And then watched false narratives and facts spread.  I watched people attack each other in strings of comments.  Quickly the online world no longer felt like a safe haven of curiosity. Instead, I found a space spewing with gotcha, anger, and immovable perspectives.

As I found myself feeling pummeled by the volume of the online world, I struggled to hear my own inner songs of truth.  What was my next step?  What did I want to share?  What was my role and what was not my role?  Whenever I felt like I’d found my sense of truth, the wisps of her whispers blew away each time I logged back in.

And so...I stepped away from social media for an indefinite period of time.  At first I thought I’d be away for two weeks.  Then the longer I was away the more I felt restored.  Now I finally feel ready to step back out in my own way.

While I was away, my nighttime dreams beckoned me back to my truth.

Every night as I slept, my dreams showed me what mattered.  For my growth.  For my relationship.  For my work.

Dreams are powerful gateways to hear our truth.

Our guides send messages that they can’t quite get to us during busy days.  Or invite healing to transform the cracks in ourselves from the past six months of a “new normal.”

So many people I’ve spoken to since the arrival of the pandemic have also had vivid dreams.  But they don’t know what to do with them or what they mean.

Are you in the same boat?

Do any of these dreams look familiar to you?

  • Nightmares of worst case scenarios.

  • Conversations with loved ones who have passed pre-pandemic.

  • Visitations of friends, colleagues, and even ex-lovers from your past.

  • The haunting snake, panther, or other animal chasing or following you in your dream; or

  • Elaborate storylines that seem potent, but you can’t make sense of.

We’re standing in a potent portal of collective change.  And our dreams are one important piece of the puzzle here to guide us through the upheaval.

The problem is most of us didn’t grow up with a dream practice.  Interpreting our dreams feels like throwing a dart at a dart board with a blindfold on.

I want to empower you to change this.

It’s up to us to see what we’re invited to learn, let go of, heal, and step into.  This chaos has the potential to transform us or keep us stuck further in ways of the past that are no longer serving us.  Both at the collective and personal levels.

What if...

  • your dreams are the keys to your personal medicine in this unprecedented moment?

  • one of the most accessible ways to tune in and discover what role you're here to play is dreamwork?

  • your dreams are inviting you to let go of old ways of thinking and relating?

How can you be more aligned with your unique destiny?  Or even thrive more in day-to-day survival?

Your dreams have answers.
