Where do dreams come from?

Dreams are far more magical than we give them credit for. Multifaceted reflections of both the human and spiritual experiences.

If I were to sit down with you right now how would you answer the following question: where do dreams come from?

Would you have an answer or be stumped? Would you tell me that dreams are your brain firing randomly? Or would you tell me that your soul leaves your body to travel to different realms?

This topic is often contested by many. My experience is that people tend to fall into almost dogmatic camps.  Digging their heels in the ground and adamant that dreams can only be one thing.

Those camps are the belief that:

  • Dreams are meaningless and only random brain neurons firing.

  • Dreams are the result of whatever thoughts you didn’t process from the day.

  • Dreams are psychological material reflecting your conscious and subconscious.

  • Dreams are archetypal forces and energies that are also a part of ourselves.

  • Dreams are the result of astral travel where your soul leaves the body and travels to other realms.

My answer? All of them. Minus the random brain neurons.  I think our systems are more intelligent, complex, and purposeful than that.

All you have to do is look outside your door to see just how purposeful life is. For example, animal spots or stripes, the perfect camouflage in their natural habitat. Or how the fragrance of flowers attracts pollinators to fertilize them. Or the symbiotic relationship between mycelium fungi and plants. Or how humpback whales travel 3,000 miles every year and never get lost!

If nature’s autopilot and instinct is that intelligent there’s NO WAY our brain’s functioning is random.  And neither are dreams.

Dreams are much more magical, mysterious, and inspiring than random.

So if dreams are not random, where do I believe they come from.

On this week’s episode of Tune In with Marci, I kick off season 3 exploring the question where do dreams come from?

I discuss:

  • Common beliefs about where dreams come from.

  • Her unique take on why dreams are more complex than we think.

  • The different realms of dreaming.

  • Sources of dreams.

  • And personal stories about the mysterious nature of dreams.

Much love,

Marci
