Loneliness & ecological belonging

Ecological belonging nourishes the dull ache of loneliness that so many of us feel.

Today I want to talk about a type of belonging often forgotten.  The kind of belonging that emerges when we see ourselves as a citizen of earth first.  And see plants, trees, animals, mountains and the rest of life as kin.

Depth psychologist Bill Ploktin talks about three types of belonging essential for wholeness.  All being a necessary precursor to meeting our Soul.  Let’s explore the one most often left behind: ecological belonging

What is ecological belonging?

Plotkin refers to this kind of belonging as communion with the “more-than-human world.”  This belonging expands our center of community, family, and social connections beyond humans.  And reorganizing our sense of belonging to an identity of earthling more than human.

When unaddressed, a low level chronic ache in the heart develops.  A type of loneliness that isn't satiated with the most meaningful human connections.

We’ve cut ourselves off from our original belonging to the Earth.  The planet and sentient being we both emerge from and return back into.  The umbilical cord of grounding, stability, meaning, and a sense of inherent worth.  For just existing.  Knowing that we each have a sacred role to play.

In the first episode of season 4 for Tune In with Marci, I explore three forgotten aspects of our true nature. I share:

  • An update about the podcast and an invitation to journey with plant and fungi spirits together.

  • Why reciprocity is an essential part of healthy relationships.

  • How choosing cooperation over competition supports us to thrive.

  • What nature teaches us about our true nature.

  • Three types of belonging we all need to experience our wholeness.

  • And how belonging to the animate earth soothes a deep longing in our hearts.

Much love,

Marci

PS. If this idea inspires you, I want to invite you to join my Patreon.  We’ll partner with plant and fungi spirits to reweave ourselves back into wholeness.  And to cultivate ecological belonging.  The best part is that you don’t have to explore alone. A community of like-minded sensitives and myself will be there too!  Community level tiers start at $27 a month.
